So, you’ve bought a domain and hosting — great! Now it’s time to bring your website to life by installing WordPress.
Don’t worry — you don’t need to be a tech expert to do this. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through three simple ways to install WordPress, even if this is your first website.
🗂️ Option 1: Install WordPress Using Softaculous (Recommended for Beginners)
Most hosting providers (like Hostinger, Niagahoster, SiteGround, etc.) offer a one-click installer called Softaculous in their control panel (usually cPanel or hPanel).
✅ Steps:
- Login to your hosting account.
- Go to cPanel or hPanel, then find the Softaculous Apps Installer.
- Click on WordPress.
- Click Install Now.
- Fill in the basic details:
- Choose domain
- Set your website name and description
- Create a username and password (for WordPress login)
- Select language and theme (optional)
- Click Install and wait for a few seconds.
- Once done, you’ll see your WordPress login URL (usually something like
yourdomain.com/wp-admin).
🎉 That’s it! You’re now ready to log in and start building your site.
🗃️ Option 2: Manual Installation (For Advanced Users)
If you want to learn how WordPress works under the hood, try installing it manually.
✅ Steps:
- Download WordPress from wordpress.org
- Upload the files to your hosting via File Manager or FTP (inside
public_htmlfolder). - Go to your hosting MySQL section, and:
- Create a new database
- Create a new user
- Assign the user to the database with full permissions
- Visit your domain name to start the installation wizard.
- Enter the database info and run the setup.
- Set your site title, admin username, and password.
Done! This method gives you more control, but it’s also more time-consuming.
🖱️ Option 3: Use Your Host’s One-Click WordPress Setup
Some hosting providers offer their own simplified one-click setup when you first log in. It usually asks:
- What kind of site you want (blog, business, etc.)
- Site name and tagline
- Login credentials
Once you complete the wizard, WordPress is auto-installed for you.
💡 After Installing WordPress
Once WordPress is installed, here are a few things you should do:
- Log in to your dashboard at
yourdomain.com/wp-admin - Go to Settings → update your site title, timezone, and permalink structure
- Install a theme (like Astra, Kadence, or Hello Elementor)
- Install essential plugins (like Elementor, WPForms, RankMath, etc.)
- Start creating pages and posts
